	내용		Feb Report – Jaewan\r\n아직은 힘든 재완이의 2월 유학생활 보고서 \r\n(주: 심재완, 초등 4년, 2005년 2월 1일 유학 시작, 밴쿠버 아일랜드 한국인 없는 캐네디언 홈스테이, Puntledge 5 학년)\r\nJaeWan had some difficulties in the first few weeks of his arrival, but seems to be adapting better and is happier now. He enjoys skateboarding at his new home and has had fun with one of Wyatt`s friends who is a lively six year old. He is playing more cooperatively with his host brother and their relationship seems to be developing. Last week, he went to a hockey game with his host father and brother, and to the driving range where they shot golf balls. He is becoming more adventurous in his eating, and generally will try different things at the dinner table. He packs his own lunch, and usually chooses fruit, yoghurt and pepperoni, which his host mother is happy to provide. JaeWan seems to particularly like being with his host father. Mike works on house plans on the computer, and JaeWan likes to watch these procedures. Sometimes he goes on a job site with Mike, and has been shown the use of the generator and `nail guns` which he seems very interested in. At school, he has not shown an interest in learning. He is receiving three hours a week of `English support` with the other Korean children in the school. On one occasion, he pretended not to know how to use the code which would allow him to work on the computer. When his teacher refused to help him, knowing he did know the code, he did enter the correct code on his own. In general, he prefers to talk to the other Korean children and ask them to translate for him. The Korean children prefer to play together at recess and noon hour, although the staff and the Canadian children are making efforts to have them included in the general play. We feel that this is a comfort thing for them, and as they all gain confidence and feel more comfortable in their homes and school, they will make more efforts to participate in the general activities. JaeWan will be playing in a soccer league in March, and we feel this will help him gain confidence. His host family enjoys having him in their home, and feel that he is doing well considering the major changes that have come in to his life. Unfortunately, the family has been unable to contact JaeWan`s family by email, but do hope they are receiving messages they have sent through Brian. They have had similar problems with the telephone card, and are happy that his parents are telephoning him. They are very appreciative of Brian and JaeWan`s family and feel that their support is making a positive difference. . As a response to JaeWan`s many complaints at the meeting with the interpreter at the school, we are having a meeting this Sunday (February 27) at the Croonen home in an effort to continue to improve the situation.\r\n(번역본)\r\n재완이가 처음 몇 주 동안은 어려움이 많았습니다만 지금은 많이 좋아져 더 행복해 하고 있답니다. \r\n\r\n스케이트보드도 타고, 와야트 친구인 8살 난 아이랑 재미나게 놀기도 한답니다. 와야트와도 점차 협조적이고 좋아지는 것 같습니다. \r\n지난주, 재완이는 식구들이랑 하키게임을 보았고, 골프연습장에도 갔답니다. 저녁식사 때는 이것 저것 시식을 해보고 다른 음식들을 맛 보곤 하면서 서양 식사에 도전적이랍니다. \r\n\r\n점심 도시락을 자신이 준비하여, 과일, 요구르트, 고기다진것등을 고르고 하여 엄마가 기뻐한답니다. \r\n재완이는 특히 아빠를 좋아합니다. \r\n아빠가 컴퓨터로 집 건축계획서를 만들면 그걸 자세히 보면서 관심 있어하고, 때로는 아빠와 같이 아빠 일하는 데로가 서 기구를 사용하는 것을 관찰하면서 매우 흥미 있어 한답니다. \r\n\r\n학교에서는 아직 공부에 재미를 붙인 것 같진 않습니다.\r\n 학교에서 주 3시간 영어 특별학습을 이번에 같이 간 한국학생 2명이랑 같이 받습니다. \r\n 한번은 컴퓨터로 하는 일을 알면서 모르는 척 했답니다. 그래서 선생님이 재완이가 할 수 있는걸 알기 때문에 안 도와 주었더니 혼자서 잘 끝냈답니다. \r\n대체로, 재완이는 아직은 한국아이들과 어울리는 것을 좋아하고 그들에게 영어통역을 부탁하기도 한답니다. \r\n\r\n쉬는 시간과 점심시간에 선생님들과 캐나다 학생들이 같이 어울리길 권하고 노력하지만 한국아이들과 어울리길 좋아 한답니다. \r\n\r\n캐나디언 아이들과 어울리고 하는 것이 그들에게도 더 안심스럽워 보일 거구, 그것이 재완이에게도 많은 도움이 되리라 믿습니다만 아직은 한국아이들과 어울리는 게 편한가 봅니다. \r\n좀더 서로가 노력을 해야 할 것 같습니다.\r\n\r\n3월 부터는 축구부에 들어갑니다. \r\n\r\n그게 재완이에게 많은 도움이 되리라 생각합니다. \r\n가족들은 재완이와 즐겁게 지내고, 가족과 멀리 떨어져 온 아이를 잘 이해하고 배려하려고 하고 있습니다. \r\n\r\n가족들이 재완이 한국 가족들과 연락 하고 싶어 하는데 아직 잘 안 된다고 다행히 유학원 Brian선생님을 통하여 계속 연락 할 수 있길 바란답니다. \r\n\r\n가져간 전화카드가 잘 안되어 불편해 하고 있고 집에서 오는 전화를 반가워 하고 있답니다. \r\n홈스테이 가족들은 유학원 Brian 선생님과 재완이 가족들에게 고마워하고 있고, 그들의 도움이 재완이를 보다 더 좋게 해 줄 것이라 생각한답니다. \r\n\r\n지난 주에 학교에서 했던 2월 회의에서 재완이가 제기한 여러 가지 불편한 점을 해결하고, 좀더 낳은 상황으로 만들어 가기 위하여 이번 일요일(2월 27일) 추가적으로 재완이 집에서 한국부인 한 분을 모시고 가족들과 상세한 회의를 할 것입니다. \r\n\r\n
